Eat healthy and always stay healthy

It’s not about our taste buds alone, it’s also about a fit body & fit mind.

For many, eating is just going through the motion of filling up a hungry stomach. It begs the important question: What should one eat, when and how. If you think good food is all about cheesy pizzas, loaded burgers and rich icings on gooey cakes, you need to understand it is also a good idea to eat vegetables. Yes, it is the healthy practice of eating salads which not only satisfy your hunger pangs but also keep you in fine fettle.

If you are not sure where to begin when it comes to making healthy food choices — or if you are already into the regimen of preferring a healthy, wholesome diet but need newer recipe ideas, all you have to do it to check out the net. Innumerable recipes will spoil you for choices – right from the methods of cooking to the use of the right ingredients.

A healthy diet is an important prerequisite of good health and nutrition. It protects you against many chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Eating a variety of foods and consuming less salt, sugars and saturated and industrially-produced trans-fats, are essential for a healthy diet.

The importance of a healthy diet cannot be underscored more in times when most of us are only concerned about pleasing our taste buds and not caring about our health. But unfortunately, the unhealthy and convenient food that we consume daily to cut down cooking time and effort from our busy schedule poses an unimaginable threat to our bodies. Hence the need to ponder the importance of healthy food.

Admittedly, it can be a little tricky to switch to a healthy diet abruptly after consuming unhealthy food for a long time. Patience and perseverance are the keywords. It will just be a matter of time before one can return to a healthy lifestyle.

An immediate fallout of the wrong choice of food on our health is excessive weight gain (obesity) within a short span of time. As if on cue, problems like diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, weak bones, or maybe even slow brain development, memory loss, etc start surfacing. It is imperative to eat healthily and eat right in order to stay healthy.

Healthy eating does not mean having only boiled meals, eating less, or saying no to fat. Healthy food habits mean switching to a well-balanced, nutritious diet, i.e., eating everything in the right amount and at the right time and with the right combination. One does not have to completely exclude fats or overdo the fibres and proteins! Especially the children need a mix and match of all types of food because this is the age for physical and mental development.

What we eat provides all the essential nutrients to our bodies. This supplies our body with the right amount of energy to do our daily work. And all these nutrients come only from healthy food, not anything and everything we eat. Nutrients derived from healthy food trigger body cells and brain cells to actively run and perform their task. Healthy food improves the immune system, preventing you from falling sick easily. A strong immunity fights against all disease-causing bacteria and viruses.
